At last, I am an elder. Parents, siblings, and many friends have passed. Youth has left the room, and old age is knocking on the door. I have traveled the world and been robbed of breath by stunning people, sights, sounds, and tastes. Experts have taught me, master craftsmen have trained me, and gurus have sharpened me. I’ve experienced both success and failure, victory and defeat, as well as wealth and poverty. People have loved and hated me, accepted and rejected, served and usurped, honored and sullied, protected and betrayed. Reveling in the grand adventure of learning, growing, discovering, and questioning, the more I experience, the more I desire. The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. I have learned that all life is precious, love is real, hope is powerful, consistency is elusive, change is inevitable, brokenness is a part of life, plans often go awry, goals aren’t always met, and the Divine resides within each of us.
